The Royal Gor Studios CEO/Owner Gor Gevorkyan is optimistic about the economy

Just when you thought things would slowed a pace in Burbank, where The Disney Company and other entertainment businesses are exploding with new construction, creating more jobs, Burbank just added another studio on the other side of town. “We have a photo video company, which is mine, we have a talent agency, a marketing company and music producers all in one place,” said Gor Gevorkyan, CEO & Owner, of The Royal Gor Studios, 1631 Maria Street, Burbank CA 91504. “Our studios can be used for movies, commercials, infomercials, educational videos, screening videos, 3-D, chroma key, you name it we can do it here.”

The Royal Gor Studios is also large enough to accommodate red carpet events and celebrations. Gevorkyan’s grand opening and first class party attracted 300-400 registered  guests and professionals in film, TV, music, theater, fashion, production, commercial, models, actors, photographers, videographers, media, special events industry, and hospitality industry.

It was a great Hollywood networking event for producers, actors, directors, singers and songwriters, who  packed the facility with more room to move on the dance floor. The drinks and food were free and there was no cover charge for the live DJ music and some guest rappers such as El Debarge Jr., who performed live on stage. Another Singer, Songwriter Junior Wright, who just released his debut album, “Come to Me”, said he was pleasantly surprised to see how big the studios were, and even got his photo snapped with Model Diamond McClain and other Singers and models.

Most new business owners are hesitant to expand business during this slow economic recovery, but Georkyan is optimistic about the future. “We’re not most people, and we don’t worry about the economy. As long as you you have a positive attitude, and a positive mind you can succeed in any economy,” he said.

Burbank also is home to Warner Bros Studios, Walt Disney Company, Disney Channel, Nickelodeon Studios, Bob Hope Airport and NBC’s Studios, including The Tonight Show. The report describes many of the close ties that have developed between Los Angeles County and Japan, the number one source of foreign direct investment into L.A. County.

U.S. – Japan trade has increased dramatically over the past 50 years jumping from $3.2 billion to $211 billion at its peak in 2000. Japan is the second largest trading partner of the Los Angeles Customs District with the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach together handling nearly 25 percent of total trade between Japan and the U.S. The report also documents the growing importance of foreign direct investment in this relationship, reviewing both investments made by Los Angeles area business firms in Japan and Japanese investments in Los Angeles County.

To discuss their investments made in the region, the LAEDC’s Economic Forecast event was held at the Los Angeles Marriott on Feb. 16, and featured a panel of speakers from well-known Japanese companies. Representatives from Honda Motors, Union Bank and Yakult, makers of probiotic beverages, will discuss the significant impact of Japanese companies on the L.A. County economy. Los Angeles — The economic recovery is under way led by increased international trade and growth in the high-tech sector, entertainment and tourism, according to the 2011-2012 Economic Forecast and Industry Outlook report released today by the Kyser Center for Economic Research at the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation (LAEDC).

The Los Angeles economy “appears to be past the bottom of the recession and is starting up the recovery path during 2011 and 2012,” said LAEDC Chief Economist Nancy D. Sidhu, Ph.D. “Many industries are back in the black and employment is rising in some areas.”

Imports and exports have rebounded around the world. Increased international trade activity in 2011 will benefit the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, which both posted strong years in 2010.

Hiring is also expected to grow as well for the region’s tourism and entertainment sectors as a result of increased filming and more visitors to the region, helped by the new convention center hotel at L.A. LIVE.

However, there is little likelihood the housing sector will escape another difficult year, even though 2011 is expected to bring some improvement. Housing activity will only see incremental improvement even though it has improved from the 2009 lows.

California, which had the second highest unemployment rate in the country in 2010 at 12.5 percent, will see employment growth in 2011. However, much like the national picture, California’s jobless rate will remain relatively high, with the LAEDC forecasting an average unemployment rate of 12.1 percent this year and the rate coming down to 11.5 percent by next year.

“We project that the California and U.S. economies will grow moderately in 2011 and 2012,” said Sidhu. “But the recession was so deep, 2011 won’t feel all that good despite improvements in most industries. However, the state is headed in the right direction, and the economy will seem even better by 2012.”

He started with “The Regis Philbin Show” in San Diego and soon moved to Los Angeles. His first national exposure came as the announcer for ABC’s nightly talk-variety program “The Joey Bishop Show.”

Philbin also was the original host of the blockbuster “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” game show. He is receiving the RTNA’s first-ever “Broadcast Legend Award” for his stature and excellence in broadcasting. Philbin earlier announced this week on his nationally famous “Live With Regis And Kelly” show that he would be stepping down later this year. KNX won the Golden Mike for “Best Radio Newscast Over 15 Minutes,” while KFI won “Best Radio Newscast Under 15 Minutes” for major market stations. KNBC was honored tonight with the awards for “Best Daytime” and “Best Half Hour” newscasts, while KTTV won the Golden Mike for “Best 60-Minute Newscast” at the 61st Annual Golden Mike Awards in Universal City.

KNBC-TV’s longest running TV Anchor Kelly Lange, who started as a weather girl, and Sunday live talk show host was given a “Lifetime Achievement Award.” She dished out plenty of stories over the decades at Channel 4 News, where explicatives were accidentally aired by such famous people at Tom Brokaw and others she worked with at the Peacock station in Burbank. Kelly Lange was the first female weeknight television news anchor in Southern California. Her career started in 1967 as an airborne traffic reporter for KABC-AM radio.

KNBC-TV Anchor Kelly Lange was one of the longest running NBC LA anchor at the station. She was hired as a weather girl when Tom Brokaw was filling in as an anchor. I had the pleasure of working with her before she retire, too.

She joined KNBC-TV in 1971 where she spent 28 years. Lange won numerous awards, including multiple Golden Mikes and Emmys. She became nationally known as a fill-in anchor on NBC’s “Today” and “Tomorrow” shows. She developed a second career as a novelist and has half-a-dozen books to her credit.

The Golden Mikes Awards for broadcast news excellence are presented annually by the RTNA, the non-profit group representing broadcast newsrooms in Los Angeles, San Diego, and all of the other markets from Bakersfield south to the Mexican border. Longtime Los Angeles television anchors Kelly Lange, retired from KNBC and currently an author, and Jose A. Ronstadt, currently with Telemundo in Los Angeles, were presented with “Lifetime Achievement Awards.

José Ronstadt is a longtime television news anchor—and household name in Spanish-language broadcasting. His career includes long stints at KVEA-TV, KWHY-TV and KMEX-TV. Ronstadt has produced and hosted a number of internationally broadcast news, sports and entertainment shows and specials. In addition to his storied career in news, Ronstadt is well-known for his community involvement. He’s also heavily involved in the world of mariachi music and is a member of the International Mariachi Hall of Fame.
